Upper Eyelid Lift

Upper Eyelid Lift (Upper Blepharoplasty)

Since the skin on the upper and lower eyelids are the most delicate and thin skin on your face, this is typically the first place to show signs of aging. Over time the eyelids can droop and make you appear much older and tired than you actually are. Natural aging, smoking, pollution, sun exposure, itching and pulling on the skin near the eyes, and obesity, can all cause the delicate eye tissue to slowly deteriorate. Upper eyelid lifts, also known as Upper Blepharoplasty, can help improve the overall look of the eyes by removing extra fat and excess skin in this area. If you’re ready to see the refreshed you, and explore your options with an upper eyelid lift, schedule a consultation with us.

This procedure is becoming very popular, and many consider having both the upper and lower eyelid lifts done together.

Considerations

Both men and women who have good overall health, are non-smokers, and no medical eye concerns are the ideal candidates for upper eyelid lifts. If you have droopy or heavy eyelids, this procedure can minimize these effects and leave you feeling younger and refreshed. Detailed Procedural Info

Whether you decide to have both, only your upper eyelids, or only your lower eyelids lifted, this procedure takes around 45 minutes to 2 hours to perform. Local anesthesia or IV sedation is needed for this procedure. During an upper eyelid lift, fatty tissue and excess skin are removed and muscles are tightened to reveal a more youthful appearance. The incision is concealed by the natural crease of the eyelid.

What to Expect

Prior to the procedure, you will have a consultation with one of our expert advocates to discuss your goals, concerns, and desired results. You will then meet with your doctor to go over your consultation and discuss realistic expectations and outcomes.

After the procedure, we sometimes recommend a lubricating ointment and cold compress to help with any swelling, irritation, bruising, or eye dryness. You may need to have your eyes covered with gauze following the procedure.

Full recovery takes approximately two weeks, but you should be able to return to work within two days. Most patients who have had the upper eyelid lift are happy with the results and do not request another procedure later in life.
